My name is Giv Parvaneh. I am a software engineer from Sydney/San Francisco/London and I have a special interest in museum-related projects. I was fortunate enough to work on some amazing web applications with the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia such as the PHM Collections Search, Hedda Morrison Photography Collection, The Tyrrell Photographic Collection and the Online Electronic Swatchbook.
I currently work at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and I am the Technical Manager of the National Museums Online Learning Project. NMOLP is a partnership project between The V&A Museum, The British Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, TATE, The Wallace Collection, The Natural History Museum, The Royal Armouries, The Imperial War Museum and the Sir John Soan’s Museum.
Having intimate knowledge of these projects, I have decided to use existing open data sources from different institutions to try out new and innovative ways to search, aggregate, display, sort and visualise the results. I will attempt to describe the tools and processes used in detail on this blog as well as explore existing research papers and articles on similar topics published by experts in the field.
